What is An HOA Transition

An HOA transition is the process of transferring control of an HOA’s governance, finances, assets, and operations from a developer-appointed board to a homeowner-elected board. This typically happens once a certain percentage of homes in the community have been sold, usually around 75%.
Owners' verification that the community is in good condition is a crucial part of the HOA transition process. This includes finances, infrastructure, assets, and operations.
The transition is often a gradual handover and not just a one-day event; it’s a multi-stage process that can take several years to complete. It is not unusual for a transition to continue even after control is transferred to homeowners.
